Inheriting the Kingdom - 3rd Part

How could a nation of ex-slaves who had no experience in building a society, establishing an economy, a banking system or a system of national security, or of even running a city, ever hope to accomplish it all...and prosper?
How did 400 years of making bricks as slave laborers, and then forty years of nomadic wandering in the desert, prepare them to establish a nation among all the other hostile nations of the earth?
How could they, thoroughly unprepared as they were, ever hope to achieve lasting success even if they did defeat and destroy the Canaanites?
Joshua was shaken out of his thoughts by a voice. Or was it a voice? Did he actually hear it? There it was again. Joshua sat in sheer terror as he heard the very voice of God.
Moses my servant is dead; now therefore arise, cross this Jordan, you and all this people, to the land which I am giving to them, to the sons of Israel. Every place on which the sole of your foot treads, I have given it to you, just as I spoke to Moses...No man will be able to stand before you all the days of your life. Just as I have been with Moses, I will be with you; I will not fail you or forsake you. Be strong and courageous, for you shall give this people possession of the land which I swore to their fathers to give them (Joshua 1:2-3, 5-6).
