Under that spirit of prayer, sometimes I sense groanings and even weeping rise up from my spirit, so I will groan until that lifts. Still other times, I have a strong urge to pray in other tongues, so I speak those utterances out. Groanings and tongues will flow together, moving from one to the other. Yield to how the Spirit is leading you until that urge or burden lifts. There have been times that I have sensed these things rise up within me for only a moment or for a longer period of time. I would yield to these leadings of the Spirit until the burden lifted. Sometimes, during the day, my mind seems to become distracted and I find it difficult to concentrate on the task at hand; at those times I begin to pray, for either God wants to speak to me, or I am to pray for someone else or about something. I don’t focus on the mental arena to try and figure out what I’m sensing, but I quiet my mind; I focus on my spirit and begin to pray in the spirit, in other tongues. If I am to pray for someone else or about something, a spirit of prayer will begin to move within me. I continue to pray in other tongues until the burden of prayer lifts. At times, when praying for someone who is facing a physical condition, or is under mental pressure or heaviness, you may sense their need. It may seem in the spirit as though their condition is upon your own body or mind, but physically or literally it is not so; again, you are sensing their need in the spirit. PRAYING FOR OTHERS As you spend time praying in the Spirit, in other tongues, you may begin to sense the condition or needs of others; this can seem so real to you that you might think that what you are sensing actually pertains to you, but you are really sensing the condition or need of another. (If you don’t understand this, the enemy may try to tell you that something is wrong with you; he may try to make you unsettled or fearful that what you are sensing is something pertaining to you, when it pertains to another. The enemy is trying to distract you out of faith, and from your spirit and into the mental arena, but stay in the spirit arena.) When you do sense the condition or the need of another, just continue to pray in the Spirit until it lifts. During Jesus’ earthly ministry, we see His compassion for the people. He was moved with compassion for the sick and for those in need; His compassion brought deliverance (Matt. 14:14, Matt. 15:32, Matt. 20:34). The enemy will send all kinds of thoughts, including accusing thoughts – thoughts that accuse you with your past, your sins, your faults or failures. He does this to try to weaken your stand of faith; he’s trying to hold you in the mental arena and out of the spirit arena, which is the arena of faith. To stay in the arena of faith, a disciplined mind is necessary. You must cast down imaginations and thoughts that aren’t in line with God’s Word answering every thought with the Word of God (II Corinthians 10:5), and then his attempts against you will be unsuccessful. Never back down from moving with God in prayer, but take with you to prayer an accurate and clear understanding of the Word of God; judge all things in the light of His Word. "I sought the LORD, and He answered me, and delivered me from all my fears" (Psalm 34:4). Satan had nothing left to work with, so my heart was truly at peace.
