STANDING IN THE GAP, an excerpt from the book MOTHERS AND DAUGHTERS: A Special Blend, written by Christian author Debbie Snyder

Excerpt taken from Chapter One: The Beginning

STANDING IN THE GAP

Children are like sponges, they absorb and absorb and absorb and they are so resilient. My heart is sensitive toward children and also the older generation. These two groups of people are so vulnerable and dependent upon others. We need to stand in the gap for them, not turning aside from things we see that are just plain wrong. My youngest daughter, Sarah, is seeing this now in her nursing training. It is good to see her tender heart for those who need care.

I have always talked to my children about standing up for the kids in school that were getting picked on or needed some extra help, encouraging them to never make fun of anyone that was different in appearance or race. I am proud of how they have taken that challenge through the years.

I would extend the challenge just one step further. Invite that "different" child to your home and it may change your life as well as theirs.
