Fear of the Lord-Pastor David Hoffman

I traveled to Greece shortly after September 11, 2001, the day
terrorists attacked the World Trade Center Towers and the
Pentagon. Before my trip I received a number of letters from
members of my church saying, “Don’t go on this trip! It is not safe
for you to travel. We love you too much to let you go.” One dear
-woman said, “I want to tie you down. Don’t go!” I appreciated
those letters because I knew the people who wrote them really
cared about me, but I am a Christian! God instructs me to fear
only Him [Deuteronomy 6:13]. God was in control of my life after
September 11th just as He had been before that day. I had no
reason to fear the future. So I prayed and asked God to speak to
me if He didn’t want me to go and I would cancel my trip. I went
on the trip and everything was fine. If God had allowed me to
encounter some difficulty or even tragedy, I know from
experience and from the truth of His Word that He would have
used it for a good purpose!
