In the military, one man or one woman is not better. It is respect for the authority that governs…respect for the uniform. Ladies, when you submit to your husband, you are submitting to God’s authority on your husband. Ultimately, you are submitting yourself to the Lord. A woman in submission is submitting to God’s divine authority. God’s submission is basically an attitude of one’s heart. It is the overall way a woman responds to her husband. Submission does not mean a wife loses her individuality and becomes a doormat, submitting to abuse or sin. She can be submissive to his authority and still say, “No, I won’t do that. It is inconsistent with the Word of God.” Or, “Dear, could we seek some counsel before I do what you ask because I’m afraid it is in conflict with God’s Word.” That is a godly attitude of the heart.
